It's great to be back after being on a semester Sabbatical Leave.  I was granted a Sabbatical Leave to work on a research project for my book, Rhode Island's Musical Heritage, which was published in 2010.  I really enjoy scholarly activities, but I am happy to be back with my band students!!!! 

We are studying new music for our Spring Concert---tentative date of Tuesday JUNE 5th. 

Students are reminded to have all materials for class:  Instrument, music, theory book, and pencil.

The WHS Band Boosters are hosting a PASTA SUPPER on Wednesday February3, 2010 at the Calabrese Club from 5-7pm.  Proceeds will help to defray the cost of travel and expenses for our Spring Festival at Hershey Park for the Westerly High School Marching Band, Flag and Dance Lines.

13 WHS Band students attended "Christmas POPS" at Boston's Symphony Hall on Dec 11th.  What a show!! 

THe WHS Concert Band and Jazz Band will perform in a WINTER CONCERT on Tuesday January 12th at 7pm in the WHS  Auditorium.  Selections include Sousa marches, Pony Express, Eureka!, and Sleighride. 

Our LAST PRACTICE before Turkey Day will be this Sunday 11/22 at 1pm.  We will be making the "WHS" spelled out on the field.

Reminder:  For Wednesday's events:  7am in front of school, report to the band room at the beginning of 3rd Block, and band members report to the band room at 5:30p on Wednesday evening to assemble for the Downtown Rally.

The first payment of $150 is due to the WHS Band Boosters to reserve a spot for you on the Hershey Park Trip. 

Thank you to everyone for an outstanding job at the Veteran's Day Parade!  We were missing some friends due to illness, but our performance was well received.  Thanks to the WHS Band Booster parents for helping out, too!!

Stay tuned for an announcement about a possible HOME football game on 11/13.  If the Bulldogs win on Sat 11/7, then we will have a game!!!!

The Annual  Band Breakfast will be held at the Westerly Yacht Club on Sunday November 8 from 7am-11am.
The WHS Jazz Band will be playing and the high school band, flag and dance students will be serving and cleaning.
Many thanks to parents for helping out with this great event.

There will be a basket raffle, also!! 

Marching Band/Senior Night is Friday October 30th.  Please see any of the 11th graders for information on helping out with gifts and decorations for that great event!!!
